About the programme

Bedřich Smetana wrote his cycle “Má vlast” (My Homeland) between 1874 and 1879 — by then already deaf. Six symphonic poems tell of the castles, rivers, legends and battles of Bohemia; the second, “The Moldau”, follows the river from its source all the way to Prague.
